I’ve been mulling over the June 23rd reading from “The Book of Awakening” written by Mark Nepo. It had a significant impact and I found myself asking what really DOES matter in the big picture and the small picture. What really IS most important? Attention, recognition, success OR the inner value of peace.
That day as I was sitting on my deck drinking my coffee and contemplating the thought provoking ideas, I noticed a small spider web in the process of being created. And, because of the contemplation and inner quietness it just felt like an opportune moment to try and capture a photo.
Always “Perfectly on Time”.
As a Spiritual Being having a human experience there truly are moments when that line/statement is positively true at a deep and knowing level . A knowing that has a way of seeping into my very being with an all encompassing sense of awe and wonder, gratitude, and a heart-filled experience that I would like to live in permanently.
This creation unfolding was absolute magic and I’m so grateful for Mark’s words and the resulting moments of awe as the universe conspired to not only present that moment of magic but also then allow me to capture it in a photo.
I called my good friend Star and she too had read the same piece which of course led us to another conversation about serendipity and being in a place where all is in order. That perhaps, the universe simply presents these opportunities as a way to lead us to stop for a moment and reflect on what is really important with the knowledge and understanding that it’s all “Perfectly on Time”.
Then I put on my Coffee Jazz favourites at YouTube and once again felt that swelling in my heart of being “Perfectly on Time” – that there’s nothing (in this moment) to be getting anxious or concerned or worked up about. That all is in order and isn’t it wonderful to be able to experience this gentle and lovely peacefulness. Of course I also recognize that these “moments” do not remain with me 24/7 but maybe it’s one of the gifts of being a “Crone” that I can at least experience them on occasion?
Just for fun and on a slightly different track, I saw a most precious little soul at dinner with parents one afternoon. I thought it was a little girl (there were actually two children but the youngest was probably less than a year). My Grandma must be around me whenever I find myself being presented with little ones because I find myself behaving just as she did... LOL!
Anyway, I stopped to say hi and my oh my, I swear there was a bit of "soul talk" taking place - and - turns out that little one was a "prince" and the other one a "princess". I have a great grandson who is 19 months and was having a “conversation” with his mom one day. She captured it on video and I swear there was a “real” chat taking place on another level.
There's certainly something about the children arriving in our world today. They seem to have a depth of spirit that I definitely didn't recognize in my own children. But then, perhaps it was simply that my own depth of spirit hadn't started to develop so I couldn’t “see” what was directly in front of me??
So to answer my own question it would seem my preference is the “inner value of peace” with a view to trusting that my mantra of “Perfectly on Time” is what fits for me at this stage of my journey.
Although I have once again been weeks in between posts here at Substack I have been following and reading my favourites which include Ramona Grigg, Prue Batten, Donna McArthur and Janice Walton with a recent new subscription to Felicity Spector @felicityspector.
What a great question Marilyn. Like you, I lean toward inner peace. I'm a 9 on the Enneagram so both inner and outer peace are my strongest driving force. It's fascinating to ponder though, holding peace up to attention, recognition and success makes it seem easy. Holding it up to happiness or health or integrity makes it feel different. Nepo certainly shows us the way so I love that you referenced his work.
Also, the spider web! I have a big affinity for spiders and their web and enjoyed the picture you took a lot. What a beauty!
Thank you for the shout out. I appreciate your support so much❤ and am very glad you have enjoyed my writing as I enjoy yours.
Always enjoy your musings, Marilyn! I've just ordered Mark Nepo's book on my Kindle and look forward to the sanctuary of his words :) XO
